L & J Jewellers was founded in 1983 by John Dowling in an upstairs unit of the Castle Shopping Centre.John has been in the jewellery trade since 1972 in wholesale manufactures and retailers in Dublin City and had decided to start his own business in Swords.
After several years of hand making his own brand of jewellery along with providing a refined repair service to customers he had built up a loyal and friendly group of customers who helped L & J Jewellers grow.
L & J Jewellers was moved in 1990 to a larger unit on the ground floor of the Castle Shopping Centre.Providing us with a front window and larger foot fall for customers. The business continued to provide retail,manufacturing and repair services adding new machinery and technology to our workshop to move forward with our production of in-house designed jewellery.Apprentices were taken on at this stage with the increase in demand, over several years some apprentices went on to work in the jewellery trade independantly and open their own jewellers around Ireland.It was in 2004 that John's son Stephen started his apprenticeship with L & J Jewellers.
With John and Stephen now working together as a father and son run business or son and father it depends which one of them you ask,They are working towards expanding their jewellery manufacturing, repair and design reach to provide customers with their advice and knowledge on all things jewellery related.
